Is SpoofPro™ legal?
YES. There has been a number of misleading news articles published recently regarding the legality of Caller ID Spoofing applications. The fact is, Caller ID Spoofing is 100% legal. Thanks to input from the industry and others, Congress did not outlaw the use or sale of Caller ID Spoofing technology, but rather imposed certain regulations on providers of this service.
What about the "Truth in Caller I.D. Act?"
This bill was signed into law in December of 2010. However, this law IN NO WAY makes Caller ID Spoofing illegal. The key line from the bill's text reads as follows:
"...to cause any caller identification (ID) service to transmit misleading or inaccurate caller ID information with the intent to defraud, cause harm, or wrongfully obtain anything of value..."
